Two monitor risers for Australian desks: adjustable steel or fixed glass

These two Brateck risers solve different fit problems. STB-081 uses a narrower, adjustable steel platform; STB-062 uses a wider, shallower glass shelf with a fixed lift. We compare their manufacturer specifications and separately checked Australian listings. We have not tested either product. Both are from one brand, so this is a limited comparison, not a market-wide best-of ranking. Other research candidates remain outside the launch shortlist while their source or model questions are unresolved. Pick the right supporting surface and height for your monitor, rather than choosing by screen diagonal alone.

Brateck STB-081 adjustable monitor riser

A narrower shelf with three height settings

STB-081 is the starting point here when width is limited and you need to choose the lift. The manufacturer lists a 370 × 235 mm footprint, 100, 120 and 140 mm settings, and a 20 kg load limit. Its 120 mm overall-dimension entry describes one setting, not a fixed height; our single-height field stays unknown. The narrower width saves desk space compared with STB-062, but may exclude a monitor base with widely spread feet. The source's 13–32-inch screen range does not guarantee base fit. Clear storage dimensions and the fully usable top area were not established.

Why consider it

  • Three specified heights: 100, 120 and 140 mm
  • 370 mm exterior width uses less desk width than STB-062
  • Manufacturer publishes a 20 kg capacity

What to check

  • 100 mm minimum lift may already be too high
  • Usable top area and clear storage opening remain unknown
  • Screen size alone does not establish base fit

For matte-black STB-081, LUMI lists steel/plastic construction, 370 × 235 mm outside plan dimensions, height settings 100/120/140 mm, a 20 kg limit and a 13–32-inch screen range. The 120 mm dimension is one setting. Usable top area and internal opening remain unknown.

Brateck STB-062 tabletop monitor riser

A shallow desk with room for a wider shelf

STB-062 suits a shallow desktop when a fixed 80 mm lift is already appropriate. LUMI lists an outside size of 560 × 210 × 80 mm and a 20 kg capacity for its glass shelf. It uses more desk width than STB-081 but less depth. That can be a useful trade when space behind a keyboard is tight. The Australian listing identifies the glass top and white legs. We could not verify the opening between the supports, so the full 560 mm exterior width must not be used as keyboard-storage clearance. Check your monitor base against the usable supporting surface before buying.

Why consider it

  • 210 mm listed depth suits shallow layouts
  • Modest fixed 80 mm lift
  • Published 20 kg capacity

What to check

  • 560 mm overall width
  • Height is fixed
  • Clear storage opening is not specified

Before you choose

A closer look at what matters.

Choose the height before choosing the material

First check whether your monitor's existing stand already reaches a comfortable position. A riser can only raise the screen; it cannot solve a screen that is already too high. Measure the extra lift you actually need with the monitor safely positioned on its normal base. Fixed platforms make sense once that measurement is settled. Choose an adjustable design if you are still experimenting or several people share the desk. Changing a riser's setting usually requires removing the monitor first; it is not a substitute for a monitor arm's movement. Leave room behind the platform for the display's cables and connectors.

Make three separate fit checks

Trace the whole monitor base, including every projecting foot, onto paper and compare that outline with the usable top surface. Then mark the riser's full footprint on the desk. Finally measure anything you hope to store underneath, including keyboard feet and cable plugs. A wide shelf does not necessarily have a wide opening between its legs. Load capacity is a separate limit: check the weight of the monitor together with its original stand, and include any other equipment sitting on top. Never infer a load limit from the size of a monitor shown in a product photo.

How the two options are ordered

STB-081 comes first when a narrow footprint and a choice of height are the priorities. Its smallest lift is still 100 mm, so it is unsuitable when that is too high. STB-062 follows for a lower fixed lift and a shallower footprint, provided 560 mm of desk width is available. Neither is a universal winner, and neither has a verified keyboard-storage opening in our evidence. These are distinct steel-adjustable and glass-fixed product families; we have not counted colour variants as additional recommendations. A smaller comparison is more useful than an inflated Top 10 with unresolved sources.

Outside footprint, usable top surface and storage opening describe different spaces. Unknown openings remain unknown; a product illustration is not a measured fit check.
